sred says:

Make sure you file for your SR&ED tax credits (the deadline 18 months from the end of your fiscal year). Your T4 can be ammended to claim for SR&ED if it’s already been filed. The benefit is a refund of up to 41.5% of eligible r&d expenses.

By collecting sr&ed tax credit information and claiming for sr&ed tax credits at the same time as filing their annual tax return companies can either receive a sr&ed refund or use the sr&ed tax credit to lower their income tax owing.
