That’s right .. I said “CONTACT FORM SPAM” … not “COMMENT SPAM”

I have no idea why people would try to spam blogs through their contact form.

Basically, if you have a wordpress blog .. you can get the WP – Contact Form Plugin and activate it. Rather than placing your email address anywhere on your blog (for spammers to pick up and spam you) .. there is a neat little form where people can contact you. The information is emailed directly to you by your wordpress blog, and you do not have to worry about giving your email away to the person filling out the contact form – as they will be redirected to a thank-you page.

Personally .. I think all businesses should have some generic email addresses similar to their domain name .. like info@yourdomainurl.com .. or, maybe not as generic as that .. I’d use people’s first names. You can create an unlimited number of email addresses these days .. Why not? Then use alternate means to avoid spam. I use Eudora Lite v.7 and the plugin Spamnix to block my spam .. plus my servers all have their own spam blocking software installed anyway.

What I do .. is that I type the (at) instead of @ and the (dot) instead of a decimal point. So at least (in my mind) there are no scraper bots out there trying to send me email.

And, this works for every site that I have – in case you were curious and wanted to get ahold of me .. you can get ahold of me by email to any of the following ..

hart (at) 1800HART (dot) com
hart (at) PetLvr (dot) com
hart (at) PapillonLvr (dot) com
hart (at) callHART (dot) com
hart (at) hart-empire (dot) com
hart (at) HARTandYVONNE (dot) com
and … need I say more?

I prefer .. hart (at) PetLvr (dot) com .. and actually, I just redirect all the above email addresses by domain directly to it .. so all I have to check is just one account.

So .. back to my topic in hand .. Why would anybody want to spam me through my contact form? It goes nowhere. There are no postings. The email comes to me – as email – and my Spamnix marks it as spam. This past week .. it’s been the http://AndYouRetire.com blog that has been spammed many times each day .. Here’s a few images ..

Yah – like I’m not going to notice SPAM like this in my INBOX

Or worse yet – you think I’m going to click on your .PL CGI scripts in the emails?

So for now .. I end my rant. All contact form spam automatically goes into my JUNK folder, and there’s really no extra efforts on my behalf except my desire to point this out.

I’ve had this kind of trouble on one of my sites, i just changed the submit button name so they couldn’t ‘click’ the button.
But I never physicly post my email address online for example this (at) and (dot) stuff if you think about it the spiders going around looking for the @ symbol and the dot they will soon change to look for (at) if I’m correct the best and safest way to protect yourself from spammers is to put your email address in a image.

It looks like you’ve misspelled the word “classe” on your website. I thought you would like to know :). Silly mistakes can ruin your site’s credibility. I’ve used a tool called SpellScan.com in the past to keep mistakes off of my website.
